You never know when your children are watching and learning from you, but they certainly often pick up on the emotions of the people around them. Recently, one such little boy was overwhelmed with emotion as he sang a lullaby to his newborn sister. His mother filmed what was happening on video. And she, like her son and many viewers, had tears in her eyes.

Here I see not just an older brother who loves his younger sister, but the beauty of history. It was breathtaking to realize that my 4-year-old was capable of experiencing deep emotions, and his love and gratitude to fate for his sister Ellis was almost tangible.

Now little Ellis is doing well: she is growing and learning new things every day. Thanks to her big brother, the girl will always have someone to look after her and protect her. He is also not afraid to show his emotions and let her know that he loves her.
