Howie Mandel Calls Him the “New Elvis of Country” – Here’s Why

The Got Talent series is known for discovering talented young stars, and while some are Elvis impersonators, this story is about a unique talent who has earned high praise from Howie Mandel. Drake Milligan from Fort Worth, Texas, isn’t an impersonator, but his exceptional talent led Mandel to call him the “new Elvis of country  music.”

Drake has been performing for years and even spent time impersonating his childhood idol, Elvis Presley. As he matured, Drake focused more on his own  music, writing songs and touring with a band based in Nashville.

Now, Drake is using the America’s Got Talent stage to propel his career, similar to how Elvis used the southern dance circuit as his launchpad. Many singers have found success through AGT, and Drake aims to be the next.

When Drake performed his original song, “Sounds Like Something I’d Do,” the audience and judges were captivated by his talent. His performance, peppered with a few “Elvis jiggles,” made it clear why he’s being compared to his idol. This is a fantastic audition.
