Model Faces Employment Struggles Due to Extensive Tattoos

Amber Luke, an Australian model, is facing significant challenges in securing employment, which she attributes to her extensive body tattoos covering 99% of her body. Known as “Dragon Girl” due to her distinctive appearance and nearly $250,000 spent on body modifications, Amber’s journey and struggles have attracted considerable media attention.

Despite living in the generally progressive country of Australia, Amber finds that her heavily tattooed look limits her job opportunities. On the Robin, Terry & Kip radio show in Brisbane, she candidly discussed her experiences:

“I am not going to sugar coat it, it has limited my employment options but that’s okay. Because the way I see it, I don’t want to work for a company that’s shallow-minded and can’t look past my image. They won’t look at my work ethic, they won’t look at my morals or my values, or what I have to bring to the table.”

Amber faces blunt opinions and harsh judgments from the public, with some people outright telling her she’s “ugly” or has “ruined” herself. She expressed her distress over these unsolicited and often hurtful comments but remains steadfast in her belief that beauty is subjective and personal. Amber emphasized that her tattoos harm no one and she feels successful and justified in her choices, despite public criticism and pleas from fans to stop further modifications.Amber Luke

Her body modification journey has not been without pain and complications. One of the most harrowing experiences was getting her eyeballs tattooed, which left her temporarily blind for three weeks. She described the procedure as feeling like “10 shards of glass” being rubbed in her eyes. Despite the ordeal, she continued to undergo other procedures, including butt lifts and breast augmentations, and remains proud of her transformation.

In 2020, Amber shared a photo of herself at 18, before her extensive modifications, revealing her past struggles with severe depression and self-hatred. She conveyed how her body transformation helped her overcome those dark times, transforming into a strong woman who is proud of who she is.A photo re-enacting the time Amber cried blue tears because of her tattooed eyes.

Amber’s commitment to her unique look extends beyond tattoos. She has modified her teeth to complement her “dragon eyes,” including extended, sharpened fangs, and a VVS white gold tooth veneer costing $5,000 AUD.

Despite the social and professional challenges, Amber stands by her choices, believing that her modifications have made her resilient and uniquely her own.
