This year, America’s Got Talent is back with an exciting twist. All the past champions are set to compete in the new edition of the show: America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Fans were in for a delightful shock when Susan Boyle graced the stage in the first episode of the season. A decade ago, Susan wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables during her initial audition.

It was quite amusing when she revealed to the judges that she was a singer during her AGT audition, and even show creator and judge Simon Cowell appeared skeptical. However, Susan silenced any doubts as she went on to win hearts and the competition that season with her remarkable voice, demonstrating her undeniable talent. Though she didn’t take the top spot, she finished as a close second. Following her breakout on Britain’s Got Talent, Susan released her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, in November 2009.

The album soared to become one of the best-selling albums in the UK, smashing records for the largest first-week sales for a debut album. In 2012, she returned to Britain’s Got Talent as a guest, performing “You’ll See” and also gracing the stage at Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant with a rendition of “Mull of Kintyre.” In her pre-taped interview for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, Susan reflected on the monumental impact Britain’s Got Talent had on her life. She confessed that prior to the show, she felt ordinary and unremarkable, but now she’s determined to prove herself on this season. “I’m excited to show Simon how much I’ve grown since last time. I’m really looking forward to seeing him. This time, I have something to prove. I’d love to win.”

For her debut performance this season, Susan opted to perform “Wild Horses,” a song that has become synonymous with her career, sparking immediate delight on Simon’s face. He jovially teased her, inquiring about her name before expressing his joy at seeing her again. Throughout her performance, the audience and all four judges erupted into applause and cheers once she finished singing. After the commotion settled, the judges shared their thoughts on Susan’s performance.

Simon began by saying, “You know what, Susan? I can’t think of any other contestant who has embodied this show better than you. Honestly, you’re the epitome of it all. You’ve touched countless lives, and I’m absolutely thrilled to have you here.”
